This is a 226 day (12 month) position beginning on January 7, 2019.

 

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

Qualifications

Education/Certification 

    1. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
    2. Master’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Finance related discipline preferred.
    3. Valid Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned or be eligible for certification relating relevant clusters and courses under Career & Technical Education
    4. Demonstrated proficiency in subject area curriculum
    5. Ability to effectively work with a diverse group of students
    6. Eligible certifications include:     
      • (A)  Any business or office education certificate.
      • (B)  Any marketing or distributive education certificate.
      • (C)  Business and Finance: Grades 6-12.
      • (D)  Business Education: Grades 6-12.
      • (E)  Marketing: Grades 6-12.
      • (F)  Marketing Education: Grades 8-12.

 

Additional/ Preferred Qualifications:

  • ESL Certification/Endorsement
  • Sheltered Instruction training

 

 

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Knowledge of subjects assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience

  • At least one year student teaching or approved internship 

Major Responsibilities
 

  1. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles
  2. Provide a variety of planned learning experiences integrating different learning methods in order to motivate and inspire students
  3. Develop lessons with district mission in mind, aligned to district and state instructional goals and objectives and subject area
  4. Maintain a classroom environment that promote safe, effective learning
  5. Continuously engage with students, parents, and community members to advance student outcomes
  6. Establish and implement effective classroom management procedures
  7. Create systems to monitor and assess student learning
  8. Collaborate with professional staff to identify and address student needs regarding health and learning styles
  9. Be available for counseling with students and parents before and after school
  10. Plan and coordinate the work of aides and other paraprofessional and student teachers (when applicable)
  11. Keep accurate records of student information; compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required by the school and district
  12. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board of Trustee policies, and administrative regulations
  13. Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned

 

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Provide instruction that will facilitate the acquisition of Business, Marketing and Finance skills and academic knowledge.
  2. Provide content associate content area teachers with assistance in meeting the needs of students accepted into the IBA academy.
  3. Coordinate enrichment field trips.
  4. Coordinate fundraising activities for capstone travel opportunity and other co-curricular events.
  5.  Recruit and retain students for the IBA academy. A minimum of 50, 9th Grade students will serve as the annual target number for recruitment.
  6. Facilitate CTE content area dual credit opportunities.
  7. Recruit IBA advisory board members and hold annual meetings.
  8. Serve as CTSO advisor for local Business Professionals of America (BPA) group.
  9. Serve as a student advocate for IBA students in meetings with guidance counselors, content teachers, parents and administrators.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.

Classroom Management and Organization

  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.

 

Communication

  • Establish and maintain open of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
    • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
    • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.

Professional Growth and Development

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.

Other

  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

  • Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).
