Primary Purpose:

Cooperate with the rest of the department in maintaining district HVAC equipment in such a state of operating excellence so as not to create interruptions to the educational program.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED, with additional training courses in related fields

 

Special Knowledge/Skills

  • Must maintain valid Texas Drivers License to operate school district equipment
  • Some experience in warehousing or a school environment preferred
  • Successful work experience in a school environment preferred
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organization and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and detail conscience
  • Able to deal with administrators and maintain professional level of confidentiality
  • Must possess personal qualities related to respect for the rights and confidentiality of others

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate success in performing a wide variety of tasks pertaining to preventive maintenance of HVAC equipment
  • Must be able to read complete work order assignments
  • Must have a valid Texas Drivers License with less than three (3) moving violations within the past three (3) years
  • Must be familiar with the tools of the trade
  • To complete work orders as quickly and safely in an accordance with the instructions given by the supervisor
  • To maintain all equipment and tools and to return them to their proper place upon completion of assignment
  • Maintain updated knowledge of filter sizes, belt sizes, and accurate records pertaining to preventive maintenance
  • Notify Supervisor to order and stock supplies as needed for repair(s) of equipment
  • Make inspections on equipment for repair by HVAC Technician such as bearing changes, equipment failure
  • Keep the supervisor informed of any existing or potential problems on all work assignments in progress, parts availability, delays of city permit requirements, work order completion delays, safety violations, personnel interference at the job site, and all related matters
  • Be willing to attend training sessions, workshops, seminars, and training clinics to improve ship operation and technical knowledge
  • Notify Supervisor order and stock supplies as needed for repair(s) of equipment
  • Maintain and repair all equipment pertaining to air conditioning, heating, ventilation
  • Maintain vehicle used for service of the district such as gas, water, oil, and cleanliness
  • Perform such duties as may be assigned by the utilities supervisor
  • Must report in every hour to the receptionist for safety precautions

  • Tools/Equipment: Small hand tools; power tools; Volt/Amp meter, refrigerant reclaim machine, refrigerant service gauges, hand tools, torches, welder, power tools, drill press, printer, copier, calculator, and fax machine, and light truck or van
  • Posture: Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting; reaching above shoulder level, frequent (30-60%) climbing on ladders, crawling under buildings, occasional climbing with bucket truck and roof tops, work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
  • Motion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving
  • Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis
  • Mental Demands: Must have good vision or corrected vision in order to read blueprints, maintain emotional control under stress
